Dear Labnetwork,
We are evaluating options for managing HF and BOE containing waste and would appreciate hearing how other facilities handle these streams.
For facilities with an on-site HF neutralization/fluoride-removal system:

  *
What manufacturer and treatment process do you use? Does it include fluoride precipitation and solids removal?
  *
Approximately how much HF/BOE waste do you treat per day or week, and at what typical concentrations? If available, total fluoride loading would also be helpful.
  *
What is the system’s approximate footprint, and does it operate in batches or continuously?
  *
How much operator attention and maintenance does it require, particularly for sludge removal?
  *
If you are comfortable sharing, what were the approximate installed cost and ongoing operating costs?

For facilities that collect all HF/BOE waste for off-site disposal, I would also be interested in your approximate volumes and whether you have evaluated on-site treatment.
Any recommendations, lessons learned, or things you would do differently would be greatly appreciated. You are welcome to reply directly.
Cheers,
Joe
