Carelessness and abandoned parts resulted in tissue fire.
Members requested IR ceramic heat lamp. Small area spot light
design is common. Good for drying one or two items.
Left unattended high risk for fire. Good for burning gloved hands

Creative engineer/home chef recommended a restaurant heat lamp
with integrated SS base. Incandescent bulb alerts researchers the
unit is on; infrared tube heats larger area; SS base defines area.
Engineer added a 60min max mechanical timer cut off switch for
safety.
Tex wipes prohibited at drying station.
Researchers can check out square SS cake pans.
Researchers clean and pat dry glass ware and load in cake pan.
Cake pan goes on drying stand with owner label adjacent.
Clean up area, write final notes etc, glass ware dry in
<10mins. put away.

Forgotten cake pans - pan 'pushed aside'; email sent to name on
label.
Abandoned cake pans - glass ware and pan go to recycle station.

Hi all –

Our cleanroom users supply their own
glassware and are kept in their storage boxes after being
rinsed thoroughly and dried. Sometimes we have too many
beakers sitting around air drying and taking up counter
space. I was wondering how other labs handle glassware and if
anyone can recommend an automated glassware rinser/dryer that
does not take long, as in the student waits for the it to be
done instead of leaving and coming back. Kind of like a spin
rinse dryer for wafers, but for a quick final rinsing and
drying of glassware that the students can use and put their
glassware right back in their storage box instead of leaving
it sit around on Texwipes to dry.
