<p>The facility director will be responsible for the logistical
aspects of the facilities, including physical space, daily operations,
technical, financial and personnel aspects of the six laboratories in
the R2R Fabrication and Processing Facility in the Institute at UMASS
Amherst. The candidate is expected to provide operational training to
students, postdocs, staff, faculty, and external collaborators. This
includes providing technical assistance, demonstrations, and the
execution of proof-of-concept studies. The core facility director will
also establish, monitor, and enforce safety and chemical handling
procedures; environmental, health, safety and cleaning controls; and
emergency plans. In addition, he/she will develop expertise in the areas
of R2R nanofabrication/patterning and processing mainly; nanoimprint
lithography techniques, optical lithography, etching, deposition and
printing techniques. Initiate engagement with private
industries/academic institutions/government labs/funding agencies to
encourage partnership and facilitate sponsored projects.</p>

<p>The Director is also encouraged to aggressively seek external funding
either independently or in collaboration with others. Schedule and
perform tours and demonstrations of the facilities to visitors and
interested parties. The Director is expected to participate in
conferences, seminars and other relevant meetings to promote the
facility, attract funding and encourage collaborations. In collaboration
with IALS Administration, prepare lab operating budget, estimate
project specific charges for machine/user time, materials/supplies cost,
negotiate service contracts with vendors, and suggest/implement
policies that utilize financial resources effectively. Assist the
faculty in the development and execution of life science related
nanofabrication lab courses or modules. In conjunction with the R2R
Faculty Advisory Committee, recommend selection and purchase of new
laboratory capabilities that meet future anticipated needs and maintain
state-of-the-art capabilities</p>
<p><b class="gmail-h2"><br>Requirements:</b><br>
</p><p>B.S. in engineering, applied sciences, manufacturing or
related field with five years' operational experience required.
Experience collaborating with industrial partners preferred.</p>
<p>Demonstrated experience in one or more areas of advanced
manufacturing, which may include wafer-based, R2R based nanoimprint
lithography/patterning techniques, additive manufacturing,
nanofabrication, material and process development for R2R techniques,
etc. Preference will be given to candidates with R2R experience. Ideally
this experience will be backed by a record of patents, publications, or
proven products gained in the above mentioned areas.</p>
<p>Minimum 5 years of related operational experience. Demonstrated
experience in good manufacturing practices and/or class 10,000 clean
room operations is beneficial.</p>
<p>Good communication skills and ability to effectively interact with
faculty, students, staff and industrial partners from a broad range of
