makeup air systems at LLNL and looking into ways that will improve the efficiency and/or
optimize the flow rates so that lower CFM is needed. Our solvent stations/wet benches
and gas cabinets use about 50% and 25% of exhaust, resp.   </p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">It seems that one may be able lower the exhaust needs by optimizing
the exhaust flow during opening/closing of the gas cabinet doors or fume hood sash using
suitable sensors or by determining the actual flow using tracer gas testing, which
could be up to 50% lower than the standard flow.</p>
