Here at the UofMichigan/LNF all of our gas detection (LSS) is separate from the fire annunciation system . We're monitoring about 165 points across the fab. Many years ago we used the fire system for gas detection, but it was problematic whenever we wanted to work on anything gas detection related, we had to loop in our fire shop to disable the input points. With two separate systems, we can now do whatever service work we need on our LSS, with out impacting the building fire system. Both system will send a notification to the other when they trigger, so we do have that cross functionality.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,sans-serif">Our fire detection system has no control over any of our HPM gases. We are reviewing our emergency procedures and I would like to ask, specifically for your hazardous and toxic gases, in the case of a fire alarm being triggered, if you make use of the building's Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) respective signal to automatically
shutoff gases at the source.<br>

We have at our disposal a range of engineering controls to shutoff gases at the source, but I am specifically interested to learn if the method of using directly the fire alarm signal has been mandated or otherwise chosen in your setting.<br>
