The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking
exceptional candidates for Director of the North Carolina Nanofabrication
Facility (NNF) https://www.nnf.ncsu.edu, beginning in August 2017 or
earlier if possible. The NNF with approximately 8000 sq ft of class 100 and
1000 cleanrooms is part of the Research Triangle Nanotechnology Network
(RTNN), an innovation hub for transformative nanotechnology research,
discovery, education, commercialization, and workforce development.  The
RTNN offers unprecedented access to nanotechnology facilities in the
Research Triangle area for researchers from across the nation. The RTNN is
one of 16 sites in the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure
(NNCI) supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The Director
will also work closely with PowerAmerica: The Next Generation Power
Electronics Manufacturing Innovation Institute, to further increase NNF
capabilities to accelerate the adoption of wide bandgap semiconductors in
power electronics through innovative power electronic device design and
fabrication. This includes up to 2 years of research funding to facilitate
projects to work with industry and academia in areas connected to SiC and
GaN device design/fabrication/packaging. SiC and GaN power device markets
are anticipated to grow at 33% per year and PowerAmerica will also support
Education and Workforce development efforts with NNF to produce the next
generation engineers to support industry. The ECE Department working with
PowerAmerica will provide a dynamic environment to pursue fundamental
research, teaching and other scholarly efforts.

This position will report administratively to the Dean of the College of
Engineering or the Dean’s designee, and must qualify for the rank of
tenured full professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering with a strong research interest in advancing semiconductor
device technologies.
