Thank you for the information, Nuri. I should have specified in my original email that we are using the Iridium in a Temescal BJD2000 electron beam evaporator. I was hoping to get some feedback from those that may have used Ir in a similar system.

Hi Jason,
I have deposited Ir on a variety of surfaces, and the process is actually quite straightforward. I simply connected an Ir wire to a high current feedthrough (connected to a UHV STM chamber) and passed the current through it to evaporate the metal. I calibrated the deposition rate using Auger.
A common approach is to use a W wire and wrap the source material around it. However, that method can also result in some W being co-deposited along with Iridium.
For your reference, I've attached three of my papers that mention Ir deposition.

Good morning network,
I am interested to see if any of you have experience using Iridium in your evaporation systems. We are getting conflicting information from various manufacturers on how we should go about melting our Iridium. Our OEM recommends melting straight in the pocket while Lesker recommends using their Fabmate crucible liner. If you evaporate Iridium, do you use a liner in your system? In what form do you receive your Iridium? Pellets, shot, rods? For what it is worth the Iridium that was purchased for us is flat fractured pieces ranging in size from dust to 8mm, which seems less than ideal.
