Katharine,
Splash googles, not safety glasses.
Thanks,

Hi Katharine,
At Utah Nanofab fume hoods, only solvents (no acids or bases) are handled, and we require the safety glasses as well as double nitrile gloves. The second set is a different color than the first set to give a visual confirmation the wearer chose to work with a wet chemical and has a more limited sphere of operation outside the fume hood (touch nothing but the handles to the under-fume-hood storage) than when wearing the single layer of nitrile gloves.
At our wetbenches, where only acids and bases are used (no solvents), we require not only the safety glasses (already on and not ever removed in the lab) and second layer of nitrile gloves, but a chemical resistant apron and face shield, plus a third set of gloves, Neoprene. The Neoprene gloves are washed and reused. Second set of nitrile gloves are removed and discarded at the end of operating in the wetbench. First set of gloves and safety glasses remain on while in the Cleanroom.
Kathy

You don't often get email from mark.chiappa at ntnu.no. Learn why this is important<https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification>
Hi Katharine,
Here at NTNU NanoLab we use Safety glasses and nitrile gloves for normal operations. When users clean Spinner bowl sets we insist they use an additional pair of thicker gloves https://www.vwr.com/no/en/product/16702400/cleanroom-gloves-nitrile-advantech-519
Kind regards
Mark

Katharine,
Our PPE is limited to full coverage splash googles and 1 layer of Nitrle gloves. We only use Acetone, 2-Propanol and Toluene in our teaching cleanroom.

Greetings,
At the LNF we are evaluating our Solvent Bench PPE requirements. I've been tasked with comparing our current PPE requirements with that of our peers'. If you would be so kind as to share links to this information, or just your requirements that would be greatly appreciated.
Our current requirements are to wear your safety glasses, these should alway be on in the Cleanroom, and a pair of polychloroprene gloves in addition to the base nitrile gloves.
Thanks you,
Katharine Beach
