[labnetwork] manganism concerns when working with Mn sputter targets

Hi,

I was hoping that someone with experience working with manganese sputter
targets would share their experiences with handling these targets if they
contain dust or fines after being used. I'm also curious how to clean
sputter system components, like chimneys, that have been used for
evaporating Mn.

I'm concerned about the possibility of contracting manganism (an incurable
neurological disorder) by exposure to the dust/fines after running a
sputter deposition using this material.

We just purchased a target, and before we release it for use I want to make
sure that the appropriate safety guard rails and procedures are in place in
our lab.

Thanks!
