Kostis,
good morning. Here at the UofMichigan/LNF all of our gas detection (LSS)
is separate from the fire annunciation system . We're monitoring about 165
points across the fab. Many years ago we used the fire system for gas
detection, but it was problematic whenever we wanted to work on anything
gas detection related, we had to loop in our fire shop to disable the input
points. With two separate systems, we can now do whatever service work we
need on our LSS, with out impacting the building fire system. Both system
will send a notification to the other when they trigger, so we do have that
cross functionality.
Our fire detection system has no control over any of our HPM gases. It's
strictly used for fire cause/effect.
Thanks,
Dennis Schweiger
